SEVERAL netizens were outraged by the content of popular Bohol family vloggers due to their consistent "mistreatment" of a pregnant member in videos that have gained millions of views online.

The Turo Family, made up of Angkol Turo, Tita Tits, Snake Princess, Baby Kikim, Pastor Cyril, Sheryl Mae, Gegel, and Anna Rose, posts content online that are entertaining to some but others find disturbing.

In some of their videos, the Turo family showcases a slice of their provincial life in Bohol. However, in others, what people find disturbing is how they treat their pregnant family member, Anna Rose, who can be seen distressed as they continue to point their cameras at her.

In one of the videos, which went viral on Facebook and drew the concerns of netizens, Annarose can be seen on the floor of their house, crying and distressed, while the cameras continue to roll.

Netizen Arielle Ababon, who posted a call to action for Bisaya content creators, is alarmed by the content of the family, saying that their videos have crossed the line by showcasing "hate speech, verbal abuse, and promoting harm towards family members," particularly Anna Rose.

"It's alarming to see them vlog about their toxic interactions, all in the name of entertainment. Giunsa paghunahuna?" Ababon said.

Ababon added that the content they showcase uses Anna Rose's "struggles as a source of comedy rather than raising awareness" of her situation.

"Their justification for this behavior seems to be driven sa ilahang earnings on social media. However, this approach not only perpetuates harm but also puts Anna Rose's mental health and her unborn child at risk grabe ang stress nga gehatag, i cant continue watching videos while nag wild si Anna Rose because obviously stress na nag tantrums [sic]," Ababon said.

Netizen Carl Dave Ang also felt that Anna Rose is not surrounded by people who make her pregnancy easy and healthy, calling out her partner, who in the videos seems to be "morally and mentally unsupportive," as he spends his earnings on drinking and gambling.

"She deserves to feel safe and supported, especially as she prepares to become a mother. As someone who discusses MNCHN (Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition), living in an environment full of stress and harmful habits can have serious effects on her mental and physical health for both the mother and the child, Ang said.

"It's important to recognize that this kind of treatment is not acceptable and should be addressed to protect Anna Rose and her future child. Everyone deserves to have a loving and caring support system during challenging times,” he added.

He also pointed out that content making fun of Anna Rose's condition is no laughing matter, as the rates of maternal deaths and complications in the Philippines "are extremely concerning, and we currently have one of the highest rates in the world."

Intervention

Following several netizens' pleas to intervene in the situation, the Turo family on Monday, April 7, 2025, personally took Anna Rose to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Tubigon, Bohol.

Rowell Ucat, popularly known as Medyo Maldito and a close friend of the family, provided this update on social media, saying that the visit was to check on Anna Rose's condition.

"Update vlog for today.. Gi bilin si Anarus sa Custody sa DSWD sa Tubigon para safe siya subay sa conditions nga gi hatag sa DSWD Tubigon [sic]," Ucat said.

The Turo Family's Facebook page also gave updates on their social media page on Anna Rose's condition.

"Salamat sa DSWD nga inyo gepabilin si Annarose diha, para ma treat ug ma guide tarong good idea salute po [sic]," the post reads.

(Thank you to the DSWD for keeping Anna Rose there, so she can be treated and properly guided. Good idea, salute!)

"Pride manang tawo nga di pa storya, accept kung nasayop ka kay way perpekto nato aning kalibutana, bisan unsaon nimo paningkamot kawang ra gihapon na atubangan sa Ginoo, ikaw pod nga feeling perpekto unaha imung kaugalingon, sama sa gesulte sa kasulatan, kung unsa imung gesulte nga pag Judge sa tawo mao sad na I judge diha nimo, kaugalingon nimo unaha kay indibidwal ta mangatubang sa Ginoo, paghinolsol kay ang gingharian sa Dios duol na [sic]," another post said.

(Pride is in people who don't listen or talk. Accept that you make mistakes because none of us are perfect in this world. No matter how hard you try, it’s all in vain in the eyes of God. And you, who feel perfect, start with yourself. As the scripture says, the judgment you pass on others will be the same judgment you face. Focus on yourself first, because we each stand before God individually. Repent, for the Kingdom of God is near.)

In a video posted on the same day, Gegel can be seen embracing his partner, along with family members, at the DSWD office.

'Kupal content'

Following the arrest of Russian-American vlogger Vitaly Zdorovetskiy for harassing several Filipinos as part of his online content, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday, April 7, reminded content creators both local and international to take responsibility for the content they create.

"It is not a license to shame or to hurt or to besmirch anyone. Ang vlog, social media, ay may kaakibat na responsibilidad kasama sa kanilang pag-post," Remulla said.

(Responsibility goes side-by-side whenever someone posts a vlog or social media in general.)

"So babala na rin ito sa lahat. Kung gusto niyo pagkakitaan ang katarantaduhan niyo, handa kayo dapat pagbayaran lahat yan,” he added.
